What I Offer
Holistic Individual Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and More
Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns can suffocate our lives, keeping us from experiencing the fullness and beauty all around us. Therapy provides a confidential and non-judgmental space for you to express yourself authentically, process difficult emotions, and develop practical coping strategies for managing life's challenges. I offer guidance, support, and encouragement as you navigate your inner world, empowering you to cultivate greater self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth.
Faith-Based Therapy for Everyday Struggles and Traumatic Experiences
When you’re experiencing mental health concerns, every aspect of yourself is affected - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Bringing each of these areas together and addressing them as a whole is the foundation of your healing journey. My goal is not only symptom relief for you, but transformation of your whole person - mind, body, and spirit. Together, at your discretion, we will use evidence-based practices and Biblically-supported interventions to help you holistically face your concerns and experience greater freedom, joy, and trust in God’s plan for your life.
Therapy FAQs
What do I need to prepare for my first session?
Just prepare yourself and any previous medical/mental health history that you would like to share with me. Please complete and submit your client forms to me via email within 24 hours of your intake session so that I’ll have adequate time to review them prior to your first session.
What kind of therapy do you do?
I use an eclectic therapy approach with clients to combine multiple treatment options and tailor treatment plans to each client's needs. I use evidence-based techniques, strengths-based approaches, and client-centered theories that allow me to be creative. However, every method that I use is through a trauma-informed lens, meaning that we’re always looking at how what’s happened to you has impacted you.
Typically, I incorporate tools from the following therapy methods into your treatment plan:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
Motivational Interviewing
Narrative Therapy
Person-Centered (Rogerian) Therapy
Somatic Experiencing (Body-Centered) Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy
What is therapy like?
Therapy is different for everyone and requires that you put in effort during and outside of sessions. Most of my sessions last about 55 minutes. During these sessions, we “put out the fires” that have come up since the last session, how you’ve used your coping skills, and then review your homework from the last session. This homework is sometimes as simple as practicing breathing exercises, and it’s sometimes deeper and requires more time and thought. Once you start to feel safe, we start processing your past experiences and traumas, relying on your coping skills to help you soothe yourself.
Why do I have homework?
Dr. Nicole Erkfitz, LCSW puts this in a very simple way, “The main benefit of therapy homework is that it builds your skills as well as the understanding that you can do this on your own.” My goal as your therapist is to eventually work myself out of a job. Practicing these coping skills learned through homework assignments and learning how to self-soothe when feeling upset or triggered are the two best ways that you start feeling better.
Do you offer couples or family sessions?
I don’t currently offer couples or family sessions. My primary focus is individual sessions, as that’s my clinical expertise. If you decide that you want to bring your partner or a relative in for a session to have a better understanding of what you’re processing and experiencing, we can definitely do that. However, I refer out to other providers who specialize in couples and family sessions if that’s a need that arises during our time together.
